NOT ALL GARDENS
ARE CREATED EQUALLY.

All gorgeous gardens begin with a great design.  Depending on your taste, water-usage, and overall budget, RENEW can design, plant, and maintain a great-looking garden that you can enjoy for years to come.  Here are just a few plans we’ve nurtured into full bloom. CALIFORNIA NATIVE GARDEN

Spend your time enjoying a garden that is authentically “California.”  Watch the property surrounding your home come alive with native and migratory birds, butterflies, and blue-belly lizards.  From California Poppies to Douglas Irises, your sanctuary will be filled with year-round color from locally-grown plants that provide annual water savings and low maintenance.

Lichen is that interesting green stuff that grows on rocks and tree trunks.  It is an algae and a fungus living together in a symbolistic relationship as a composite plant.  Lichen thrive in fresh, clean air — so if you have some in your yard.  That’s a good thing.

HERB GARDEN

We can design an herb garden so you can harvest fresh herbs for culinary enhancement in the kitchen or even for medicinal purposes.  From Improved Meyer Lemon Trees, to Peppermint, these useful plants are full of aroma and will tempt your taste buds while providing annual water savings and low maintenance.

The figs we eat are technically flowers, not fruit.  And there’s only one fruit that bares its seeds on the outside — strawberries.

COTTAGE GARDEN

Cottage gardens have a unique style all their own that use informal design, traditional materials, dense plantings, and a mixture of ornamental and edible plants.  From Blue Sage to Spanish Lavender, these homely and functional gardens provide seasonal interest with colorful flowers and medium maintenance.

The smallest known tree is a dwarf willow tree which only grows to be two inches in height.  It is native to the tundra of Greenland, takes a very long time to grow, and can live to be over 200 years old.

LUSH AND DRY GARDEN

After a few exceptionally dry years and record low water tables,  drought-tolerant landscapes are becoming more and more popular.  Many assume that this means growing only cactus and yuccas and covering the soil with gravel.  Nothing could be further from the truth.  Water-wise gardens are lush, dry gardens with year-round interest, long-lasting, hardy plants and a variety of rich textures.

The Coast Redwood (Sequoia sempervirens), a relative of the Giant Sequoia and native to Califoernia, holds the record for being the tallest tree.  The tallest living redwood on record is 367 feet tall — 62 feet taller than the Statue of Liberty.
